This year we had the opportunity to partake in an awesome tradition from Tracy's younger years.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HLBSOwyBb2E/TtQZbuW-RPI/AAAAAAAAAcA/giOJobIYCC0/s1600/372.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HLBSOwyBb2E/TtQZbuW-RPI/AAAAAAAAAcA/giOJobIYCC0/s320/372.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Our first "straight from the woods" Christmas tree! Now it may not look like much above, but in our small living room it has enormous character.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0kpe9s83DZs/TtQcdkODqWI/AAAAAAAAAdg/V7jS1TboQY8/s1600/003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0kpe9s83DZs/TtQcdkODqWI/AAAAAAAAAdg/V7jS1TboQY8/s320/003.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ShcarCCSuFo/TtQaiZbBl1I/AAAAAAAAAcI/vJr9PkIUR6U/s1600/375.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ShcarCCSuFo/TtQaiZbBl1I/AAAAAAAAAcI/vJr9PkIUR6U/s320/375.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The boys of course thought it was an adventure just tromping through the snow and collecting sticks. Once our tree wiped it's last sappy tear and said goodbye to his forest friends we welcomed him into our home for much anticipated decorating. Each year the boys get to pick out a new ornament for the tree. Usually it represents something that they are into that year and they love pulling out the memories each Christmas. Not quite sure Evan will be happy to hang Dora on his first bachelor tree, but hey at least he will have the option! Last year because of the rising cost of well..everything, I convinced them that we should make these.</div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GsYYa-fTT8g/TtQcSzuxxgI/AAAAAAAAAdY/p7et_wDqyJU/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GsYYa-fTT8g/TtQcSzuxxgI/AAAAAAAAAdY/p7et_wDqyJU/s320/002.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
They each got to paint their favorite color on a homemade Lego ornament. They loved it! To keep them happy (insert evil laugh here), I kindly decided that we would make ornaments again this year. Here is what we started with for less than 10 bucks:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dBpXWiciomo/TtQatxU49jI/AAAAAAAAAcQ/dpWXJVA17xs/s1600/376.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dBpXWiciomo/TtQatxU49jI/AAAAAAAAAcQ/dpWXJVA17xs/s320/376.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Can you see the vision yet? Next they each got to paint their own with the base color.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pkjfpy3Q33A/TtQb-QA_-xI/AAAAAAAAAdI/NhTW-aC2dfc/s1600/378.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pkjfpy3Q33A/TtQb-QA_-xI/AAAAAAAAAdI/NhTW-aC2dfc/s320/378.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is the drying stage after a few "touch-ups" from mom. Can you tell yet?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-n8ojQSk8Dt8/TtQbFgVPDdI/AAAAAAAAAcg/V8fzY_TuGLU/s1600/379.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-n8ojQSk8Dt8/TtQbFgVPDdI/AAAAAAAAAcg/V8fzY_TuGLU/s320/379.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
After the detailing and a coat of clear spray paint, the kids were ready to find them a special place on the tree.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GmkbtQe-DdQ/TtQbTv4R3cI/AAAAAAAAAco/Mir_bn7qtes/s1600/380.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GmkbtQe-DdQ/TtQbTv4R3cI/AAAAAAAAAco/Mir_bn7qtes/s320/380.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-R5BH31Wq6qo/TtQbdbhKxpI/AAAAAAAAAcw/xC9nlZrqTyg/s1600/381.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-R5BH31Wq6qo/TtQbdbhKxpI/AAAAAAAAAcw/xC9nlZrqTyg/s320/381.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-k771UT44WgY/TtQbqvYJseI/AAAAAAAAAc4/S2SY7h97IB0/s1600/382.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-k771UT44WgY/TtQbqvYJseI/AAAAAAAAAc4/S2SY7h97IB0/s320/382.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-k8dhgFkX6TI/TtQb0lwDaHI/AAAAAAAAAdA/zQe5xWcozwE/s1600/383.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-k8dhgFkX6TI/TtQb0lwDaHI/AAAAAAAAAdA/zQe5xWcozwE/s320/383.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now we will just cross our fingers that our tree will still be alive for our Angry Birds to nest in for Christmas!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qnhUjurEKdc/TtQcHztKUpI/AAAAAAAAAdQ/HK0YLWGdhd8/s1600/386.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qnhUjurEKdc/TtQcHztKUpI/AAAAAAAAAdQ/HK0YLWGdhd8/s320/386.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

Luckily, I did have the costumes done on time and they did get to go trick or treating on real Halloween. As promised here is a quick glimpse at how my projects went.<br />
For Leo's Green Lantern I started with this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-b1IKZnVU_Ag/TrdPR_xOisI/AAAAAAAAAaA/K0PHajKGWO0/s1600/greenlantern1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-b1IKZnVU_Ag/TrdPR_xOisI/AAAAAAAAAaA/K0PHajKGWO0/s320/greenlantern1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
A black sweatsuit, an XL men's T-shirt and a couple of felt squares. The clothes I purchased at Savers and spent about $5.00. I originally bought the mask and the ring to go with it for $7.00, but then Grandma showed up with the exact same thing off of a clearance rack that she purchased for $2.50 and donated it to our cause! Add a few things from my craft stash, such as hot glue, batting, thread and glow paint and.... Voila! This super hero came in under 10 bucks!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-i28uzq1I3_g/TrdRwVwtcGI/AAAAAAAAAaI/mS8s_hFtlU0/s1600/greenlantern2b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-i28uzq1I3_g/TrdRwVwtcGI/AAAAAAAAAaI/mS8s_hFtlU0/s320/greenlantern2b.jpg" width="162" /></a></div>
<br />
Next we have Evan as the Flash. Suprisingly not many kids knew who that was and kept referring to him as "lighning bolt guy". Here it is in the beginning:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wcYuXxsctJg/TrdTkmQLi3I/AAAAAAAAAaQ/bXtnZsB5drw/s1600/flash1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wcYuXxsctJg/TrdTkmQLi3I/AAAAAAAAAaQ/bXtnZsB5drw/s320/flash1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Once again a second-hand store sweatsuit, freshly laundered. A small cut of felt in yellow and the same pickins' from my crafting supplies and we were on our way. A rinsed out milk jug added stability to his speedy bolts on the sides of his head.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-troY08H74xg/TrdV3VRfCtI/AAAAAAAAAag/yIdIO6xmqzM/s1600/flash2b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-troY08H74xg/TrdV3VRfCtI/AAAAAAAAAag/yIdIO6xmqzM/s320/flash2b.jpg" width="127" /></a></div>
<br />
He was so into character that he had to strike this pose everytime someone took a picture of him!<br />
Fast, warm AND about 10 bucks!<br />
<br />
As I said before, I feel like I cheated on Jack's costume, but what can you do when a kid really wants to wear a costume that is already made? Jack had his heart set on being Master Chief from Halo. You could tell who the Xbox fans were when they stopped to comment on his costume. All it needed to be ready was a little touching up to the fabulous helmet Tracy made a couple years ago. We couldn't find the exact same shade of paint, but Jack didn't seem to care.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zv1DKj3lR0g/TrdXZMtb9OI/AAAAAAAAAao/U26ComJNCdM/s1600/halob.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zv1DKj3lR0g/TrdXZMtb9OI/AAAAAAAAAao/U26ComJNCdM/s320/halob.jpg" width="153" /></a></div>
<br />
The only thing he said he was missing were covers for his shoes. Oops, should of thought of that.<br />
<br />
Last, but not least we have Ollie as Wolverine. I made his last, and he made sure I knew it. This is where most of the creativity came in:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4L8SjBbvaH0/TrdYk0Uj3bI/AAAAAAAAAaw/lD1dYTU9rKY/s1600/wolverine1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4L8SjBbvaH0/TrdYk0Uj3bI/AAAAAAAAAaw/lD1dYTU9rKY/s320/wolverine1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Finding yellow sweats would prove difficult, but I knew I had my good friend Rit dye standing by. Next problem, couldn't find any white sweats to dye... settled on two white zip-up hoodies, an XL men's blue polo and some gray thermal bottoms to use as the base for his pants. Lemon yellow Rit dye: $3.00. Second-hand store deals on clothes: $7.00. I think I only had to add one square of black felt to my collection in order to finish this costume, so once again final cost was probably a little more than 10 bucks. Milk jug for mask stability and don't forget the claws which I sturdied with a sour cream lid cut to shape.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qiU7RrsD4ew/Trdaqsxer4I/AAAAAAAAAa4/zTj_VoLBZdI/s1600/wolverine2b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qiU7RrsD4ew/Trdaqsxer4I/AAAAAAAAAa4/zTj_VoLBZdI/s320/wolverine2b.jpg" width="134" /></a></div>
<br />
This is what makes it all worth it. A three year-old who believes that he is Wolverine and wants to wear his costume for hours on end! You should see his moves!<br />
<br />
Here they all are ready for some good ol' trick or treating.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-v2Qnzrl9AgE/Trdcl0VjIVI/AAAAAAAAAbA/ZhCKWtcacqo/s1600/trickortreatb.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-v2Qnzrl9AgE/Trdcl0VjIVI/AAAAAAAAAbA/ZhCKWtcacqo/s320/trickortreatb.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I sure love these guys, even if they did try to eat candy for breakfast, lunch and dinner!<br />
<br />

<br />lydiaoutnumberedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15019289405111290418noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3376500274688161665.post-69413724234576069292011-10-16T23:33:00.000-06:002011-10-16T23:52:24.844-06:00Homemade Halloweens past...The good news is that I think I have scavengered up most of the things I will be needing to make costumes. The bad news is that I haven't gotten very far at all! Everyday the older boys come home from school and ask me if their costumes are done yet. They must think that I sit on the couch picking and flicking while they are away. Nope. Not done. <br />
I thought I might post a few pictures of some of the past creations...<br />
But first I had to post the Halloween picture that started it all:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9RnAFiJW1bI/TpusIDYyosI/AAAAAAAAAWo/t1a3UxuVjhU/s1600/scan0018.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9RnAFiJW1bI/TpusIDYyosI/AAAAAAAAAWo/t1a3UxuVjhU/s320/scan0018.jpg" width="205" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Awww. Isn't that sweet. Look at us all young and thin and thinking life was all unicorns and rainbows.<br />
<br />
Now, not all of our kids' costumes have been homemade and not all of my brain cells are still intact after having all these kids. This being said, I have no idea where I might find all of our Halloween pictures. Here is just a sampling. Just smile and nod if you have seen them before on this blog or anywhere else.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GIq5TefYckI/TputJZnVcTI/AAAAAAAAAWw/HJzZsZPiqts/s1600/scan0019.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GIq5TefYckI/TputJZnVcTI/AAAAAAAAAWw/HJzZsZPiqts/s320/scan0019.jpg" width="168" /></a></div>
<br />
My very first attempt at homemade. Sweet little Leo/Superman. Probably sad that I tried to comb his hair Superman style.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0N_VegAn1fg/TpuuSjSJL-I/AAAAAAAAAXg/93Od7VR2BBU/s1600/halloween.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="224" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0N_VegAn1fg/TpuuSjSJL-I/AAAAAAAAAXg/93Od7VR2BBU/s320/halloween.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Oh my gosh. I don't even know what to say. This picture just cracks me up! Look at puffy little Big Bird/Jack on the left. Don't you just want to squeeze those cheeks? I have to say, Optimus Prime was one of the coolest we have created thus far. The signature semi-truck roof lights on his shoulders even lit up! Evan's skeleton costume glowed in the dark too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yonOaG0Wsrg/TputcmGYL3I/AAAAAAAAAW4/mmozZHRNXHM/s1600/gator+ollie1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yonOaG0Wsrg/TputcmGYL3I/AAAAAAAAAW4/mmozZHRNXHM/s320/gator+ollie1.jpg" width="183" /></a></div>
<br />
We thought that our Ollie-gator should be just that for his first Halloween. Still bugs me that the pants were the wrong color. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cbUo44VTDKc/TputkMy6DYI/AAAAAAAAAXA/bUnOvEE08PQ/s1600/iron+jack1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cbUo44VTDKc/TputkMy6DYI/AAAAAAAAAXA/bUnOvEE08PQ/s320/iron+jack1.jpg" width="172" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Try creating an Iron Man without a mask... this is what I came up with. What is great about kids is that you need only come close and their imagination does the rest. Jack BELIEVED he was Iron Man. Of course it was before all of the new-fangled store-bought arc reactors came out so he had an LED push light on his chest.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YalN4YDNUs8/Tputyur0_EI/AAAAAAAAAXQ/hP4I1kn_fOo/s1600/spidey+ev1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YalN4YDNUs8/Tputyur0_EI/AAAAAAAAAXQ/hP4I1kn_fOo/s320/spidey+ev1.jpg" width="162" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Evan also believed that he was really the Amazing Spider-Man. The mask and gloves are the only things that I did not make on this costume.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6YYmMQQxy5c/Tputou2rDpI/AAAAAAAAAXI/udtLP4m7VFY/s1600/vader+leo1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6YYmMQQxy5c/Tputou2rDpI/AAAAAAAAAXI/udtLP4m7VFY/s320/vader+leo1.jpg" width="133" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Another one of our favorites. Leo hates to be the center of attention and you should have seen the amount of people who tried to talk to him! Good thing he had a Darth Vader sound box inside his helmet that he could use to distract people while he ran the other way!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LO0iY4SDWU0/TpuuEz9a8mI/AAAAAAAAAXY/4C-n-7zE87M/s1600/halloween2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="237" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LO0iY4SDWU0/TpuuEz9a8mI/AAAAAAAAAXY/4C-n-7zE87M/s320/halloween2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Check out the cute mugs on these guys.. and the big bobble-head. <br />

Wow. You'd think of all of the Halloweens past, I would be able to come up with a few good pictures from the last one. Instead, these are grainy cell-phone pictures. I had to put a few of Bowser (that was a complex, but really fun costume to make) at different angles since Evan is nearly cut out of the group picture. <br />
<br />
Taking this trip down memory lane and seeing all of these happy trick-or-treaters gets my creative juices flowing and makes me excited for this year's projects. It also makes me very tired. <br />
Good night, don't let the bed bugs bite!<br />
<br />lydiaoutnumberedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15019289405111290418noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3376500274688161665.post-52679177809816098912011-09-22T00:03:00.003-06:002011-09-22T00:08:17.859-06:00The final choices have been made.Yes, it is not even October yet, but we start talking about ideas for Halloween costumes about mid-summer. Usually, the requests change several times before I can even get working on them, but I think we have our winners for this year! Let me first explain that I don't really know how to sew. I don't know how to read a pattern that even calls itself "Simplicity" to make me feel more stupid . I would love to be a great seamstress, but for now, I settle with a little sewing and a lot of hot glue sticks!<br />
I get stressed out over it every year, but I love making my kids' costumes and seeing their excitement as they come to form. I don't remember ever having a store-bought costume growing up. Even if it was stuff from my own closet with a few added accessories, the creativity was the fun part. So let the creativity begin!<br />
<br />
Leo's choice this year is Green Lantern. I think the final decision making point came when he asked if he would get his own light-up ring and I said yes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Trzm9ULFalQ/TnrJW5Py1GI/AAAAAAAAAWQ/vnpcj-N2KQ4/s1600/green.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Trzm9ULFalQ/TnrJW5Py1GI/AAAAAAAAAWQ/vnpcj-N2KQ4/s1600/green.png" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Evan, as you may have guessed, decided to be Flash because he can run sooooo fast! Although I would like to follow his blue-print, I think the final product will be an amped up version of this 2005 rendering I did for Jack's first Halloween.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PTZ4n1yWqJw/TnrJg2-omYI/AAAAAAAAAWU/S8C45TYg89E/s1600/scan0016.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PTZ4n1yWqJw/TnrJg2-omYI/AAAAAAAAAWU/S8C45TYg89E/s320/scan0016.jpg" width="302" /></a></div>
Jack has started planning for about the next five Halloweens, but for this year he came out of the blue with Master Chief from Halo. I feel a little guilty, like I am cheating. I actually made a Master Chief costume for Leo two years ago. It conveniently fits Jack now. After a little touching up, it should be great. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ir-z-JcOBkk/TnrNt6BmuMI/AAAAAAAAAWk/OxIK2bZlv50/s1600/Halo1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ir-z-JcOBkk/TnrNt6BmuMI/AAAAAAAAAWk/OxIK2bZlv50/s320/Halo1.jpg" width="237" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
And Ollie... we talked about being Plex, or a Minion from Despicable me... some of his favorites...<br />
He finally decided on Wolverine and is sticking to it. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HbCOrzijcRE/TnrLo8KQa0I/AAAAAAAAAWg/0xPo0sBP6pY/s1600/wolverine.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HbCOrzijcRE/TnrLo8KQa0I/AAAAAAAAAWg/0xPo0sBP6pY/s1600/wolverine.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Of course when I make them, they always end up being versions that are much more kid friendly. And usually padded and warm.... I hated wearing my coat over my costume. Come on!!<br />
So soon, I will be hitting thrift stores and craft stores to find just the right things to dye, cut, sew, glue, paint and ultimately bring smiles to my favorite little faces.<br />
Wish me luck.lydiaoutnumberedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15019289405111290418noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3376500274688161665.post-51136119435720935712011-09-19T23:43:00.007-06:002011-09-20T00:33:43.348-06:00The Truth<div>
<div>
<div>
<div>
<div>
The truth is that it has been a little over two years since I last posted on this blog. The truth is that a lot of things have happened (even some documented!), over those two years. The truth is that there is no way that I could possibly update this blog with all said events (especially at the rate I have been blogging!). The truth is - I am flawed. Yep, totally imperfect, and I am trying to let myself realize that just being me is okay. In an attempt at moving forward, I had this great idea to follow the progress of our annual Halloween costume creating. I am hoping that this will do two things for me:</div>
<div>
<strong>1.</strong> Get me to blog again; and</div>
<div>
<strong>2.</strong> Get me to make my kids' costumes in a timely manner instead of staying up all night on the 30th and burning at least four of my fingers with hot glue.</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
So to get started, I wanted to share the first rough draft of one of the costumes I will be making this year.<img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5654318985335817218" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IPEIxkLZcYQ/TngtKMewRAI/AAAAAAAAAWM/iwOglk0dn_k/s400/scan0015.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 309px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 355px;" /></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
My 6-year-old kindly brought me this sketch tonight as a gentle urge to get working on it.</div>
<div>
I only hope I can do it justice.</div>
</div>

There's just something about him that reaches out and grabs a little piece of your heart... even when he is being naughty. Today he turned 3 years old! Or "really big" if you ask him. Not only did his daddy have the day off to spend with him, but Grandpa Rob got to come stay and we were lucky enough to spend the evening with Aunt Margaret, Uncle Dean and the lovely <a href="http://www.thefivefosters.blogspot.com/">Five Fosters!</a> Of course he also had many messages of love coming his way for his very special day. If you asked him what he wanted for his birthday he would reply without fail, "trucks and mud and rocks and water". Evan thought that maybe someone could buy him some dirt seeds so that we could grow him some dirt. Of course Grandpa delivered with the very thing his heart desired...<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5347792614726472226" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SjctDJ06kiI/AAAAAAAAATY/dbFj3pUV4bI/s400/sandtable.jpg" border="0" /> <div><div><div><div>Remember the days when a robot shirt and Lightning <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">McQueen</span> underpants were all you needed to start your day? But, I digress. Here is Jack with his brand new sand and water table.</div><div></div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5347792419756438610" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 286px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/Sjcs3zgb9FI/AAAAAAAAATQ/akhFA6zclyE/s400/before+table.jpg" border="0" /></div><div>Here is everyone enjoying the new table. <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Ahh</span> what could be better? (And no, Leo did not get into a fight... if you look closely you will see a tiny pin prick of a red mark made by one horrible and <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">beastly</span> mosquito and <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">BAM</span> his whole face swelled up.)</div><div></div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5347795207524423890" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 297px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SjcvaEwHmNI/AAAAAAAAATw/nsTsTAQDZ7Q/s400/ollie.jpg" border="0" /></div><div>This is the part where Ollie decides to help me.</div><div></div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5347795405718078370" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 297px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SjcvlnFKw6I/AAAAAAAAAT4/1fZNe6OFOwc/s400/cake1.jpg" border="0" /></div><div>A couple of months ago, the plan was to make a robot cake. I have to admit though that "rocks and mud" was just about the easiest cake I have ever had one of them request! The kids all thought it was so cool to eat real-looking chocolate rocks.</div><div></div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5347795559076536482" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 280px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SjcvuiYrIKI/AAAAAAAAAUA/pcarC-ugkFo/s400/working+guy.jpg" border="0" /></div><div>Here is our "working guy" very happy about his new tools. You may have noticed him wearing this ensemble as he blew out his candles. For a boy who was very kindly told at every well-visit for his first 18 months that he just "wasn't the biggest guy" he has grown into quite a tank. He can take on both of his older brothers now. His hands are almost as big as Leo's and his feet are passing Evan's. We love every inch of him!</div><div>Happy Birthday Jack!! </div></div></div></div>lydiaoutnumberedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15019289405111290418noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3376500274688161665.post-82162534740564729522009-05-22T20:03:00.004-06:002009-05-22T21:01:41.997-06:00Those Darn Commercials.I'm not sure, but I think that retailers are out to get me. It seems like they are choosing to push their products during prime kid-watching-<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">tv</span> time on channels geared towards a young and impressionable audience. Advertising companies wouldn't do that, would they?<br /><br /><br />First let me say that most of the time my kids don't watch TV because they are too busy sculpting with organic play dough, eating sugar free snacks (or <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">brussel</span> sprouts), and helping me around the house. BUT, when they DO watch TV they have reached the tender age of wanting <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">EVERYthing</span> advertised between episodes of Sponge Bob and Dora. It's gotten so bad that they actually fight over who will get <em>which color</em> of <em>each item</em> for <em>which holiday</em> and IF they will share it or not. Jack has started laying claim early on in the commercial because he knows his birthday is coming up. It doesn't matter if it's a water gun, an action figure, or Gatorade... he wants it for his birthday.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Here's the one that kind of <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">surprised</span> me:<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5338839577571235954" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 190px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 260px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/ShdeTzXuGHI/AAAAAAAAASA/n6M7eKnYR8Y/s400/tnb.gif" border="0" /><br /><br />First of all, who knew that mid-day cartoons would be the prime spot for this. Apparently some one who knew my boys. Leo and Evan practically swoon <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">every time</span> this commercial comes on. They "NEED" it.<br /><br />"But mom, all you have to do is give them $19.95 and we can have it!"<br /><br />"See mom, you can even get toothpaste when you have a broken arm."<br /><br />The funny thing is that I made a very similar contraption out of Avon boxes in elementary school for the Inventions fair. Too bad I didn't get the patent on this in the 4<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">th</span> grade.<br /><br />Anyhow, I guess we know what to ask Santa for this year.<br /><br />And by the way, if you've seen the commercial, Evan wants the RED toothpaste too!lydiaoutnumberedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15019289405111290418noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3376500274688161665.post-40434815249356824962009-05-18T23:40:00.012-06:002009-05-19T00:37:40.774-06:00I knew I wouldn't be good at this...Sadly, when I actually attempted to keep a journal, many of the entries began like this:<br /><br />"I can't believe how long it has been since I've written."<br /><br />The last few months have been a comedy/suspense/horror/drama and a whole lot of peanut butter sandwiches all rolled up in one. (notice I didn't mention action... I get winded just putting my pants on in the morning.) I'd like to keep my promise and finally post a couple of pictures of Evan's birthday. I thought I would throw in the other two boys who celebrated their birthdays too! I hope that I'm not giving anyone false hopes though by being such an over-achiever.<br /><br /><br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/ShJKQwUJynI/AAAAAAAAARo/5TRdG_X3AJI/s1600-h/evbday.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337410160095251058" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 267px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/ShJKQwUJynI/AAAAAAAAARo/5TRdG_X3AJI/s400/evbday.jpg" border="0" /></a> Here's the birthday boy waking up to his stash. Who looks like he's more into the whole thing to you? You may notice a theme as we continue...<br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/ShJKJTakSII/AAAAAAAAARg/R1OBQInIA9o/s1600-h/evcake.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337410032078440578" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 297px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/ShJKJTakSII/AAAAAAAAARg/R1OBQInIA9o/s400/evcake.jpg" border="0" /></a> Evan requested a "pink piggy cake" and had to make sure that he was wearing his Geoffrey the <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Giraffe</span> crown to blow out the candles.<br /><br /><div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/ShJKARaw83I/AAAAAAAAARY/2TQym1gI1k0/s1600-h/ollie+cake.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337409876923577202" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/ShJKARaw83I/AAAAAAAAARY/2TQym1gI1k0/s400/ollie+cake.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />Next on the birthday list was Oliver, turning a great big one! He didn't have much of an opinion about his cake, so I made it Oscar the Grouch peeking from his can if you can't tell from the picture. The little <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Slimey</span> cake was Ollie's very own to devour.<br /><br /><div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/ShJJ3Byth3I/AAAAAAAAARQ/OWeUydcr_bc/s1600-h/ollie+eat.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337409718110226290" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 297px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/ShJJ3Byth3I/AAAAAAAAARQ/OWeUydcr_bc/s400/ollie+eat.jpg" border="0" /></a> This is the one year old NOT devouring his cake. But don't worry... after his one dainty little finger-full of frosting, someone else at least got some enjoyment out of it.<br /><br /><div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/ShJJuvtcF-I/AAAAAAAAARI/9gQH7Md4ZiA/s1600-h/jack+eat.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337409575817320418" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/ShJJuvtcF-I/AAAAAAAAARI/9gQH7Md4ZiA/s400/jack+eat.jpg" border="0" /></a>And boy DID he enjoy it! I still remember going to work one day and telling my co-workers that after days of being exhausted and a little nauseated that if I didn't know better I would think I was pregnant again... I also vividly remember putting my 8 month old down for a nap and then watching the little pink lines appear on the stick on the bathroom counter. So full of emotion, I sat by little Leo as he slept and I wept tears of joy and wonderment. I whispered thanks to my Heavenly Father and also a plea that I would be good enough to mother two precious miracles. I then tried to get myself together enough to call Tracy at work to tell him that he was going to be a daddy again! Our 2nd little miracle turned FOUR today! He is such a fun and smart little boy and we are so thankful that we were entrusted with him. I will post pictures when I get them uploaded. Right now I must make sure that all of the little party-ers are snug in their beds.<br />Happy Birthday Evan!!<br />(yes Evan LOVES Dora)lydiaoutnumberedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15019289405111290418noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3376500274688161665.post-33431301555183643152009-01-19T10:29:00.002-07:002009-01-19T10:39:20.597-07:00Is this what you look like too?<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SXS5Zx3DH6I/AAAAAAAAAQA/oLc9lb92f6w/s1600-h/tired.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5293059314599272354" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 297px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SXS5Zx3DH6I/AAAAAAAAAQA/oLc9lb92f6w/s400/tired.jpg" border="0" /></a> If you are actually reading this blog, then this is probably what you look like too waiting for a new post. Tracy actually took matters into his own hands last night and posted a widget of one of his favorite TV shows. My little Oliver has become quite a momma's boy and doesn't like me to do much but pay attention to him! Hopefully later I will find a moment or two to post some pictures (and witty comments) about our holidays and what's happening in the new year. Stay tuned...<br /><div></div>lydiaoutnumberedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15019289405111290418noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3376500274688161665.post-79378410234397513002008-12-12T22:13:00.003-07:002008-12-12T22:34:49.235-07:00We were on a break...<span style="font-family:verdana;"></span><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SUNG3XcUNYI/AAAAAAAAAP4/jDDHX-eRifA/s1600-h/untitled.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5279141105207883138" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 237px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 216px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SUNG3XcUNYI/AAAAAAAAAP4/jDDHX-eRifA/s400/untitled.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><span style="font-family:georgia;"><em>Dear Blog,</em></span><br /><em>You may have noticed that I have been a little distant lately. I'd have to say the most common among all of my boys is "Always Distracted Disorder". This they get from their dad.<br />I am sitting at the computer researching some items on our Christmas wish lists and I happen to find a great deal on one greatly desired item. As I bounce the little one on my lap and Jack climbs under my legs, I realize that my purse and debit card are <em>ALL</em> of the way downstairs!<br />I ask Jack if he would like to get mommy her purse from the diaper bag. Off he goes on excited little feet repeating his mission to himself...<br />2 minutes later...<br />He arrives with a package that I have been <a href="http://lydiaoutnumbered.blogspot.com/2008/10/for-james.html">meaning to send off.</a> Sorry again James... "Always Delayed Disorder"?<br />I take the package and send him again to collect my purse. He runs off happily and soon I hear him playing downstairs with his brothers... distracted...<br />"Jack, are you bringing my purse?"<br />2 minutes later...<br />He comes proudly into my room with his hands held out in front of him, fingers and thumbs pinched together holding what I can only imagine are the two smallest invisible purses one has ever come across.<br />"Thanks Jack"<br />Here's where you will begin to see how lazy I can really be.<br />"Leo, Evan"...<br />"Leo, Evan"...<br />This is where they develop "<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Alittlebit</span> Deaf Disorder".<br />This combined with "Always Distracted Disorder" can become quite the mess.<br />"Huh, I didn't hear you, I was too busy trying to reach the breakable Halloween decorations which made me want to go dump out all the crayons and draw a spooky bat, which made want to dig through the drawers to find the bat cookie cutter and make a peanut butter bat sandwich...<br />Sorry, were you talking to me?"<br />Several minutes later Evan finally arrives with the purse and hurls it across the room at me.<br />What, Paypal session timed out? How could that be?<br />After logging back in and trying several times to enter the correct card information with Jack trying to climb on and off the half of my lap that is still unoccupied, my mission is finally accomplished. Evan better really appreciate his Dora, Journey to the Purple Planet PS2 game.<br />Then I begin to smell Oliver's current form of ADD. "<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">Alotof</span> Dirty Diapers"<br />Crap (no pun intended), I just used the last diaper off of the changing table. I guess I will have to get one from downstairs.<br />"Leo, Evan, Jack..."<br />Here we go again.lydiaoutnumberedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15019289405111290418noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3376500274688161665.post-38302074036713013812008-10-20T13:37:00.000-06:002008-10-20T16:45:53.133-06:00A little vacation.We haven't really had a vacation as a family... well... ever. This year Tracy was able to get some time off for the Elk hunt and so we packed up the family and headed down to Loa to visit Grandpa Rob. We also got a wonderful chance to visit Great Grandma Margean in Escalante.<br /><br />I have to say that after spending 11 days away from home with four little boys... I was just about ready for a vacation! We had a great time though and here are a few highlights:<br /><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5259326232379604498" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SPzhV97hPhI/AAAAAAAAAKw/SASFChO8Nco/s400/forest.jpg" border="0" /><br /><div align="center">This is what the campsite looked like</div><div align="center">when we first got there... </div><div align="center">by the next morning it was snowing and so </div><div align="center">we decided to go back to Grandpa's. </div><div align="center">At least the boys got to experience </div><div align="center">sleeping in the trailer for one night. </div><div align="center">They were so excited to be in the "forest".</div><p><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5259329179598549010" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SPzkBhLRcBI/AAAAAAAAAMA/YPmzlyhO2hk/s400/leo+dirty.jpg" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5259331887038178338" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SPzmfHLLpCI/AAAAAAAAAMI/u5_lAZJhzek/s400/Evan+dirty.jpg" border="0" /></p><p align="center"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5259329002929848178" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SPzj3PCK_3I/AAAAAAAAAL4/-1jvy6zOfuo/s400/jack+dirty.jpg" border="0" /> The favorite activity at said camping spot? </p><div align="center">Everything to do with DIRT! </div><div align="center">This is what the boys looked like </div><div align="center">for pretty much the whole day.</div><div align="center"><br /></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5259326575617210690" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SPzhp8lveUI/AAAAAAAAALA/IXYNfQEdr5I/s400/it%27s+cold.jpg" border="0" /> <p align="center"> Ollie was the only one who stayed clean. </p><p align="center">Brrr... Maybe he was too shy to cry. Leo is our helper, our cautious child, and yet has a great sense of humor. He is quite the budding artist and loves playing video games with his dad. He loves to play outside and recently got a new baseball bat and a ball which he can hit clear across the yard. He can create just about as much noise and commotion as the next kid, but for the most part he is our quiet, thoughtful boy. He began to worry about all of the attention he would be getting on his birthday when he saw me hanging up his birthday banner. He did begin to relax as the day wore on and he realized how nice it could be to be so loved and celebrated on his special day. Here are a few pictures of him opening some of his presents. These shots seem to have a recurring theme...<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5243122798150182050" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 277px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 377px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" height="382" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SMNQZ9l-ZKI/AAAAAAAAAIw/FuUZV1-Nhdc/s400/1.jpg" width="283" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5243123021499057522" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" height="390" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SMNQm9ofxXI/AAAAAAAAAJA/7cUAMDTW4JM/s400/3.jpg" width="263" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5243122903197174866" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" height="385" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SMNQgE7ITFI/AAAAAAAAAI4/Bruq2SdLhwM/s400/2.jpg" width="257" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5243123270622121954" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" height="222" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SMNQ1dsED-I/AAAAAAAAAJQ/UiC4Lzf0WKg/s400/5.jpg" width="357" border="0" /><br />Did you see it? You probably did as long as you weren't wearing the same expression as Leo.<br />I promise the kid has eyes. Big blue ones at that, but he works really hard to get the "cheese" out when someone takes his picture. One of them gets a stuffy nose and we are suddenly knee deep in snot. In addition to well visits for all of them, we have had several ear infections, one set of tubes, some asthma, rotovirus, hand foot and mouth disease, chicken pox (yes even with the immunization), </div><div align="left">allergic reactions.... You know a little of everything. Let's add into the mix that they are all boys and then I think I deserve a punch card for the Emergency Room/Instacare. </div><div align="left">Pay for nine visits and the tenth one is free... </div><div align="left">Leo has had a broken arm and an emergency visit to the eye doctor after being shot close range with a velcro nerf dart. You could actually see the velcro pattern on his eyeball. The local instacare is starting to recognize us after Evan had to have his chin glued shut and Jack had to have stitches above his eye just a few months apart. </div><div align="left">This is our latest mishap. </div><div align="left"> </div><div align="left"> </div><div align="left"> </div><div align="center"></div><div align="center"></div><div align="center"></div><div align="center"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SMISFi4jbYI/AAAAAAAAAIg/uJ5v0CV3VRA/s1600-h/broken.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242772802685332866" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SMISFi4jbYI/AAAAAAAAAIg/uJ5v0CV3VRA/s400/broken.jpg" border="0" /></a></div><div align="center"></div><div align="left">I can guarantee that his face didn't look like this when they were putting that bugger on!!<br /></div>lydiaoutnumberedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15019289405111290418noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3376500274688161665.post-31283814439983754892008-08-22T00:02:00.000-06:002008-08-22T00:05:07.109-06:00That's not much of an incentive...<div align="center"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SK5WsEZGoiI/AAAAAAAAAHo/DWtJF_LUTaE/s1600-h/Dink+Purchase1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5237218731771732514" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SK5WsEZGoiI/AAAAAAAAAHo/DWtJF_LUTaE/s400/Dink+Purchase1.jpg" border="0" /></a> I'll just have the tacos please.<br /><br /></div>lydiaoutnumberedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15019289405111290418noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3376500274688161665.post-14472866335005109232008-08-17T20:04:00.000-06:002008-08-17T20:09:40.546-06:00Just to be fair...<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SKjZqidBS7I/AAAAAAAAAHg/4x1JnS5Rzjg/s1600-h/Jack+n+Ollie.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5235673891644459954" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SKjZqidBS7I/AAAAAAAAAHg/4x1JnS5Rzjg/s400/Jack+n+Ollie.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div align="center">He does have a very sweet side too. </div><br /><div align="center">Here's something else he did the other day when I wasn't looking.</div><br /><div align="center"></div><br /><div align="center"></div>lydiaoutnumberedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15019289405111290418noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3376500274688161665.post-43232377917628772732008-08-12T15:01:00.000-06:002008-08-12T15:20:24.400-06:00Margarine Mayhem!<div align="center"> Things like this don't just happen when I am home alone with the kids. </div><div align="center">Today, Tracy had the day off and decided to vacuum out </div><div align="center">and wipe down the inside of the van (bless him). </div><div align="center">I was busy feeding a cranky Ollie and trying to get him to take a nap. </div><div align="center">This is what Jack was doing....<br /></div><div align="center"> </div><div align="center"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5233741246160427970" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vWghuidFbok/SKH77w-z28I/AAAAAAAAAHY/xSXalhsG_ak/s400/Margarine+Mayhem.jpg" border="0" /><br />Once you get past the sheepish, I'm-up-to-no-good grin, you may notice the margarine masterpiece behind him. Yep, that would be all six cubes of margarine that were neatly wrapped in their foil and closed in their boxes only minutes before. Now the boxes are hanging out of and lying near the garbage can. The wrappers? They are ever so discreetly tucked under the front of the refrigerator. The cubes, now full of fingerprint personality, are carefully lined up awaiting their next pot of Mac and Cheese. Jack? Greasy and very proud.<br /><br /></div>lydiaoutnumberedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15019289405111290418noreply@blogger.com0
